Large fully automatic drinking trough measuring 100 cm in length and 20 cm in width, particularly suitable for ducks, geese and turkeys. Featuring a hinged protective grid and a brass float valve for direct connection to a suitable water supply. Can also be used as a sheep drinking trough.
This automatic duck drinking trough has been designed for poultry that require a larger and more accessible drinking area. Its wide trough provides convenient access to water for ducks, geese and turkeys.
An integrated brass float valve automatically regulates the water supply. As the birds drink and the water level falls, the valve opens and allows fresh water to flow into the trough. Once the required level is restored, the valve closes.
This makes daily watering considerably easier by eliminating the need to refill the trough manually on a regular basis.
Hinged Protective Grid to Discourage Bathing
One of the most useful features of this drinking trough is its hinged protective grid. Ducks and geese often use open water containers not only for drinking but also for bathing.
The grid restricts access to the water and makes it more difficult for birds to climb into the trough. This can help reduce contamination of the drinking water.
For cleaning, the grid can simply be folded to one side, providing convenient access to remove feed residues, bedding and other debris.
The protective grid is made from galvanised, plastic-coated wire.
Automatic Water Supply with Brass Float Valve
The trough features a mechanical brass float valve that opens and closes the incoming water supply according to the water level.
Its benefits include:
-
Automatic replenishment as water is consumed
-
No need for frequent manual refilling
-
Mechanical operation without electricity
-
Brass float valve suitable for direct water supply connection
-
Continuous access to water when correctly installed
The brass float valve is included. A compatible replacement valve is available separately.
Direct Connection to the Water Supply
The duck drinking trough is designed for connection to a suitable pressurised water supply. A hose tail for 1/2-inch hose is included.
This enables the trough to be supplied through a compatible hose without requiring a separate reservoir that must be filled manually.
Before installation, check that the supply pressure and other operating conditions are suitable for the installed float valve.
Suitable for Poultry and Sheep
The drinking trough is particularly useful for:
Measuring 100 cm long and 20 cm wide, with a drinking height of 11 cm, the trough provides a significantly wider drinking area than narrow poultry troughs.
When used for sheep, ensure that the trough is positioned and secured appropriately for the animals' size and strength.

Installation, Use and Safety
Position or mount the drinking trough securely and horizontally at a height appropriate for the animals. Ensure that larger animals cannot easily move or overturn it.
Connect a suitable 1/2-inch hose to the hose tail and attach it to an appropriate water supply.
Before use, verify that the water pressure is compatible with the float valve. After connection, check for leaks and ensure that the valve opens and closes reliably.
Fold the protective grid open for cleaning and regularly remove dirt from the trough. Inspect the float mechanism and water inlet as part of routine maintenance.
When connecting to a public drinking water supply, comply with the applicable drinking water hygiene and backflow prevention requirements.
Protect the trough and its water supply against freezing. Automatic water replenishment does not replace daily checks of the animals' drinking water.
